Washington State: The New Nevada
Last year I worked on Megan Griffith’s film “Eden,” a gripping film that delves into the world of domestic human trafficking. Starring Jamie Chung, Matt O’Leary and Beau Bridges, “Eden” is based on the true story of human trafficking survivor Chong Kim. It premiered at the SXSW Film Festival this year and is slated for national distribution in 2013.
The story takes place primarily in the deserts of Nevada and New Mexico. Audiences have been surprised to learn that the movie was shot almost entirely in the state of Washington. Other than a couple days of b-roll footage shot in Las Vegas, all of the dramatic desert landscapes and other exteriors were shot in central Washington. Interiors and city scenes were all shot in and around Seattle. The movie is a great example of the tremendous variety that Washington State has to offer.
Check out the trailer for “Eden” here, and be sure to catch it when it comes to theaters next year.
